The Big Room at Carlsbad Caverns

The Big Room at Carlsbad Caverns

An eerie subterranean view of the main streambed in the Big Room. This photograph was taken by Jim Epler at 2:25 PM on 11/26/2010 over the Thanksgiving holiday in Carlsbad, NM at Carlsbad Caverns. It is cataloged under the terms nature, travel, landmarks and parks & fountains in this photography database.

This image was recorded on digital media using a Canon Digital Rebel xTi camera with a Canon 17-40mm f/4 L lens stopped to f 4 and exposed at a speed of 32/10 sec.

Photographer Comments: I did not have a tripod with me because I was in a cast in crutches during this visit. So, I had to balance my camera on the handrail and hold it VERY steady. Unfortunately, I only came away with a few sharp pictures including this one.

Additionally, search phrases or terms that people actively seeking pictures on the Internet related to this particular topic might include the words caves, popcorn, stalactite, stalagmites, sediment and caverns, so they are included on this details page as a way to improve the photograph's profile in searches and Web queries.
