A photograph of a banana slug found near a trail in Muir Woods, CA. This photograph captured in February, 2000 was taken by Jim Epler during the winter in San Francisco, CA on a trail in Muir Woods. It is cataloged under the terms nature, animals, objects and woodland scenes in this photography database.
The image was exposed on 35mm Kodak GOLD 200 color film stock using a Pentax Asahi Spotmatic II camera with a Asahi Pentax 28mm f/3.5 lens.
Photographer Comments: The focus on the original photograph is very soft on the edges. I used a 28mm lens and moved very close to the creature instead of switching to the more logical choice of a 50mm or 135mm. This was due to the fact it was raining pretty hard and I didn't want to risk "waterlogging" the inside of my camera! My wife actually encouraged me to take this photo, as she noticed the slug first because she is much more observant of little details when we take walks in the woods. I, of course, was searching in my typical 'MO'? for a wide angle shot! Incidentally, she usually discovers and points out more interesting things in life than I do.
Additionally, search phrases or terms that people actively seeking pictures on the Internet related to this particular topic might include the words snail, bananna, banana slug, Muir Woods, Northern California, bannana and Santa Cruz, so they are included on this details page as a way to improve the photograph's profile in searches and Web queries.
